Native 5 FRN Dark Blue CPM S110V Plain, the fifth generation of the iconic Native folder, one of the best E.D.C. with a blade made of modern CPM S110V steel. Made in Spyderco factory in USA (Golden, Colorado).
CPM S110V - The blade is made from a high alloy martensitic tool steel with a hardness of 58-61 HRC, produced by the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process. The process begins with a homogeneous bath of molten high-alloy steel that is pumped through a nozzle with high-pressure gaseous nitrogen to produce a stream of small spherical droplets that quickly solidify into powder particles. The small particle size creates micro ingots, drastically reducing alloy segregation in the steel and providing an extremely fine carbide microstructure when the powder is processed into finished steel. CPM S110V alloy contains a high 2.8% carbon content and a significant admixture of niobium, vanadium carbides and chromium. Thanks to its properties, it retains its sharpness for a very long time and offers high corrosion resistance. This unique steel is produced at the Crucible® Industries mills.
Blade - Leaf-Shaped profile provides a long, gently curved cutting edge. Plain blade is Full Flat Grind. Enlarged 14 mm SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) for ambidextrous thumb opening. Corrugated thumb ramp jimping on the back of the blade and ForeFinger Choil between handle and cutting edge make the knife easy to use. Refined, precision machined Back-Lock mechanism guarantees the peak of precision and better smoothness of operation.
Handle - dark blue color. Non-slip Bi-Directional Texturing (Bi-Directional Texturing) and notched Spine Jimping on the back of the handle strengthen the grip even with wet hands. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) plastic, a fiberglass reinforced nylon. Covers are attached to a stainless steel spacer / handle lining connector (backspacer) for structural strength. Polished steel hourglass clip with 4-way clip positions (up/down, right/left). Rear lanyard hole, enlarged cord hole.
