MAC Carbon Fiber Diving Knife, Red PTFE W 1.4060 (APN09.CF)

APNEA9 CARBON, an ultralight, compact diver's knife (back-up) with a polished blade. Manufactured by the Italian company MAC Coltellerie. An indispensable piece of equipment during any diving expedition.

1.4060 (MA5 / X35Cr16N) - martensitic stainless steel with high hardness. A conventional stainless steel, MA5 steel (X35Cr16N standard AFNOR / 1.4060 standard Wnr) is similar to X46Cr13 steel. Its main advantage is that it offers excellent corrosion resistance, as well as better hardness after heat treatment. Hardness and strength are characteristics of the universal grade. Heat treatment of MA5 / X35Cr16N / 1.4060 steel allows it to achieve high hardness (up to 60 HRC), while being resistant to aggressive marine environments.

Regular maintenance of 1.4060 stainless steel (MA5 / X35Cr16N) prevents the formation of deposits and maintains its luster. It also facilitates the removal of spots and tarnishes. Cleaning should be done before there is a visible layer of dirt or fingerprints, so the danger of permanent discoloration of the steel surface is minimized. For cleaning, do not use agents that contain: chlorine, salt, acids and bleach.

Blade - with Dagger (dagger) profile, both sides with excellent cutting properties were derived with Flat Grind. One of the blades fully smooth Plain, the other serrated Serrated ending on the side of the tip with a few millimeters of smooth blade. Serrated (serrated) blade used in diving, rescue and survival knives. The unique blade consists of alternating one large and three small teeth, the so-called three-step. This pattern increases the length of the cutting edge by up to 24% compared to a straight blade. Ideal for aggressive cutting of hard materials, plastics and fibrous materials such as ropes and nets. The profiled cutout in the wedge can be used to undermine nails or screws underwater. The blade is coated with Teflon with a bright red color, making the knife easier to find.

Handle - in red color. To improve the grip, facings made of Carbon Fiber material were screwed to the tang. The steel hilt covered with jimping on the fingertips and the ergonomic shape of the facings prevents the hand from slipping while working.

Sheath - made of hard PP polymer with holes for drainage of water, moisture. The holster is equipped with a latch to prevent the knife from slipping out in water. The sheath comes with two rubber straps and 2 plastic buckles for attaching the case to the hand, leg or to a vest.
