Fulcrum Desert Forprene, Desert Warfare is a milestone in multifunction knife design. It was used en masse in Afghanistan as equipment for the Italian Nibbo mission. It was developed in cooperation with COMALP (Comando Truppe Alpine) Italian Alpine Unit, as a project to renew the individual soldier's equipment.
Extrema Ratio, was chosen by COMALP to design a new multi-functional infantry knife that can be used successfully in any operation no matter where it takes place, wherever more complicated tools have failed.
N690 - corrosion-resistant, high-carbon 1.07% (C), martensitic chromium steel 17.30% (Cr) with molybdenum 1.10% (Mo), vanadium 0.10% (V) and cobalt 1.50% (Co) for structural uniformity. Features exceptionally high corrosion resistance and long edge retention. One of the best tool steels in the world today. It achieves a hardness of 57-60 HRC. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - a modified Tanto with a thickness of 6.3 mm. The blade is covered with laser-engraved Desert Warfare camouflage. Combo partially serrated blade was derived with concave grind (Hollow Grind). Spine jimping textured thumb ramp, as well as double finger guard double-sided hilt/notched guard protect the hand from slipping on the blade.
Combo Edge - (partially serrated) used in tactical, rescue and survival knives. Composed of alternating one large and two small teeth, this pattern increases the length of the cutting edge by up to 24% compared to a straight blade. Ideal for cutting hard materials, plastics and fibrous materials.
Handle - full-size 5" long FH (Full Handle) type used in assault knives. Textured, non-slip facings with rubber-like properties. Made of Forprene thermoplastic elastomer (flexible return, softness, chemical resistance), guarantee a firm grip even with wet hands. Steel head with an enlarged oval hole (lanyard hole) for pulling a lanyard or safety line, can act as a hammer / glass breaker and more.
Sheath - multi-functional sheath made of abrasion-resistant, waterproof nylon in Desert color with a flap fastened with a DuraFlex buckle. The holster features a single, automatic, pressure-activated safety. The case has a sheath attachment on the belt or under the webbing of the M.O.L.L.E. (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) system. The lower part of the holster, with Velcro fastening, allows attachment to the thigh.
