M390 Microclean® – a high-performance martensitic chromium steel produced using powder metallurgy. Thanks to its carefully engineered alloy composition, it offers exceptionally high wear resistance and excellent corrosion resistance. Its superior wear resistance ensures outstanding edge retention, allowing the blade to stay sharp for a long time with minimal maintenance. Another advantage is its reduced tendency to form a burr during sharpening. The steel contains approximately 20.0% chromium (Cr), 1.9% carbon (C), and 4.0% vanadium (V). It is hardened to 59–61 HRC and undergoes vacuum and cryogenic treatment, as well as double tempering. M390 is considered a “super steel” and is comparable to grades such as CPM 20CV and CTS-204P by Carpenter. It is manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - tanto type, finished with a scratch-masking Stonewashed method and then black coated. The straight cutting edge converges towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade and the high, flat grind produce an excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. The special tip grind makes it stronger than traditional grinds. Ball bearing ceramic supports the opening of the blade with a index-finger flipper which functions as a stag once opened. The entire blade is locked with a modern Frame Lock.
Handle - monolithic, made from a single piece of titanium milled with 3D CNC machine tools. This provides incredible strength, but requires the utmost skill and precision in production. The chamfered edges of the covers and the fore finger groove eliminate sharp edges and improve the ergonomics of the grip. The pivot is decorated with a stylised Rike Knife brand logo and a blue titanium inlay. The single-position (right) deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in the tip-up position (blade tip up).
Case - the knife is packaged in a zippered nylon soft pouch with the brand's logo for securely carrying and storing the folder.
