Reate - an independent brand synonymous with the construction and production of unparalleled quality knives. Its founder, David Deng, a long-time knife enthusiast with a background in mechanical design and manufacturing, constantly strives for excellence and perfection, aided by a professional design team and his own factory. Reate Knives an unconventional brand that has the courage to be an innovator and challenge the traditional solutions used by contemporary knife companies. It uses only the highest quality materials to produce perfectly crafted tools. Enjoying a well-deserved reputation as a leader in the world of knives, the brand is committed to the highest possible quality of craftsmanship and an innovative approach to design.
Kirby Lambert - a Canadian-based knifemaker, specialising in custom folders in tactical and Japanese styles. Kirby's Japanese-style work includes not only variations on the popular Tanto, but also the traditional hamon (selective hardening) of the blade. He is vice-president of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild, whose knives have been extremely popular in the knife community for many years. He believes to create a perfect knife, you have to use perfect materials. That's why he works with the highest quality high-tech materials.
M390 - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it is characterised by extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to its high wear resistance, it adequately retains its edge shape, so that the blade remains sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another advantage is the resistance to the formation of a 'wire' during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0 per cent (Cr) doped with 1.9 per cent carbon (C), vanadium 4.0 per cent (V), and is hardened to 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Blade - drop point type, finished in an elegant brushed satin finish. The generous belly extends the length of the cutting edge in relation to the length of the blade converging towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength while the high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. The multi-row ball bearing system ensures an extremely smooth opening of the blade with the quick flipper (index-finger flipper) when opened acting as a deicer. The knife can also be opened by means of a dual thumb stud with a unique design. A section of the back of the wedge is covered with an upper jimping, a notched thumb rest for easy control of the knife. The whole thing is locked with the proven and popular frame lock with a steel insert to prevent the lock face from rubbing off.
Handle - made of 6AL4V titanium, the elaborate carbon fibre inserts add an exclusive touch, contrasting beautifully with the cool titanium. Contouring of the covers eliminates sharp edges. The grips are joined together by a titanium backspacer. The spine of the backspacer is covered with upper jimping, a notch that improves grip confidence. The simplicity and robustness of the construction ensure many years of use. The single-position (right) clip, milled from a single piece of titanium, allows the knife to be carried in the tip-up position (blade tip up). Behind the clip is a space for threading a safety or decorative cord. The pivot is decorated with a stylised screw.
Case - included is a zipped soft nylon case with the manufacturer's logo for safe storage and transport of the folder.
