CPM S45VN - an American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best blade steels. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while keeping corrosion resistance at the highest level. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it is made up of 0.5% niobium carbides (Nb) along with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0% chromium (Cr) carbides. The improved strength of CPM S45VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) durability of the blade surface is enhanced with a matte black nanocomposite coating, which exhibits unique properties such as exceptional hardness and low friction, as well as excellent corrosion protection. It is one of the most resistant coatings to scratches and abrasion that are used in industry, including the knife industry.

The powerful Praetorian T type Drop Point blade has been coated with a black DLC coating, the concave grinds give excellent cutting properties combined with high strength. Impressive embossing increases the strength, using them to open the knife. For increased insensitivity to contamination, phosphor bronze washer was used, making the pivot axis more resistant to field work. A powerful titanium frame lock bar secures the knife from folding, and unfolded and secured the knife is as solid as an armored cash register.

Handle made of titanium also coated with DLC. All Praetorian variants are equipped with a PVD-coated D2 hardened steel backspacer, which also serves as a glass breaker. The knife is delivered in a waterproof and dustproof - IP67 and shockproof (MIL-STD-810F) technical case from the American S3 Case Company, made of high-impact S433 resin - one of the most durable materials available in the world.
