CPM S35VN – American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best steels for blade production. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while maintaining the highest level of corrosion resistance. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM). The CPM process produces a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition is balanced to consist of 0.5% niobium (Nb) carbides together with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0% chromium (Cr) carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes the steel about 15-20% harder than S30V without compromising wear resistance, and it is also easier to machine and polish. The improved toughness of CPM S35VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.

Vacuum & Cryogenic - CPM S35VN steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages. Vacuum Heat Treatment: the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel. Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts retained austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes, CPM S35VN steel ensures exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) increases the durability of the blade surface with a black, matte nanocomposite coating that has unique properties such as exceptional hardness and low friction, as well as excellent corrosion protection. It is one of the most scratch- and wear-resistant coatings used in industry, including the knife industry.

Blade - Sheepfoot type, coated with black DLC. The long, strong cutting edge converges towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade ensures high durability, while the high, flat grind and wide blade guarantee excellent cutting properties. Ceramic ball bearings support the smooth operation of the blade opening mechanism, which can be opened through a hole in the blade. On the spine of the blade, there is an upper jimping, a corrugated thumb rest. The whole is locked with a modern Frame Lock with a steel inlay to prevent the lock face from wearing out.

Handle grips - profiled grips made of titanium 6AL4V with perfectly fitting inlays made of Timascus. The whole is screwed to a solid backspacer, also made of titanium. The simple, solid design guarantees many years of use. The pivot axis is adorned with a titanium cap (Pivot Cap) in a contrasting color. The titanium single position (right) deep carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in a tip-up position (with the tip of the blade up). The protruding part of the backspacer has a hole for a safety or decorative cord, and can also be used as an improvised glass breaker.
