Externally, it resembles the previous generation, but it is the internal construction that makes the new Scarab II in a class of its own. The revolutionary dual blade deployment mechanism not only ensures smoother operation, making opening easier, but the dual-spring design propels the blade forward with enough force to open the knife even underwater. Precision-crafted to the highest standards, the Scarab II guarantees unmatched reliability and safety of use.

M390MK - thanks to the collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers, an exclusive version of M390 steel was developed exclusively for Microtech. The carbon content was increased and subjected to more rigorous control, thereby improving the properties of M390 steel to ensure better edge retention, corrosion resistance, and polishability. A martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced using powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy composition, it features exceptionally high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to its high wear resistance, it retains its edge shape well, allowing the blade to stay sharp for a very long time (requires minimal maintenance). Another advantage is its resistance to “wire” formation during sharpening. Steel with a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr), alloyed with 1.95% carbon (C) and 4.0% vanadium (V), hardened to a range of 59–61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.

Blade - machine-ground, T/E type (Tanto Edge), single-sided sharpened, partially serrated, with a line of fuller grooves on both sides of the edge. Finished with a matte Apocalyptic patina that gives an aged effect and masks minor scratches caused during use. The blade features a high flat grind (Flat Grind), ensuring excellent cutting performance. As a result, while maintaining high strength, the knife has outstanding piercing capabilities. The robust blade extension/retraction mechanism, operated by a knurled Thumb Slide, a stepped thumb slider, requires a specific amount of force to overcome spring resistance for safety. In this model, the knurling has been upgraded to a version featuring a distinctive “X” in the center. The opening mechanism ensures smooth operation for both right- and left-handed users.

Handle - precision-machined using 3D technology on CNC mills from 6061-T6 anodized aluminum. The back and bottom of the handle feature jimping for a more secure grip. The slim profile and the milled, two-position (right/left) solid deep carry clip allow for discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket in the tip-down position (blade tip pointing down). The clip features the scarab pictogram characteristic of this line.

The handle is finished with a glass breaker—a solid steel triangle into which a tungsten carbide ball has been pressed. It also features a hole for threading a decorative cord.
