A high chromium (Cr) content of 18.0% and an average carbon (C) content of 0.95% ensure high hardness and corrosion resistance, while the addition of alloying elements—1.3% molybdenum (Mo), 0.8% silicon (Si), 0.12% vanadium (V) increases strength and wear resistance. 9Cr18MoV is characterized by high hardness in the range of 58–60 HRC. Used in the production of knives, including Damascus and surgical blades, swords, scissors, and cutlery.
