8Cr13MoV - an easy-to-sharpen stainless knife steel, equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel. A high content of 13.0% chromium (Cr) and an average of 0.8% carbon (C) provide excellent corrosion resistance, while the addition of the alloying elements molybdenum 0.30% (Mo), vanadium 0.25% (V) and nickel 0.20% (Ni) increase the steel's strength and wear resistance. 8Cr13MoV has a high hardness in the 57-62 HRC range.
Blade - with Leaf Shaped profile (leaf shape), 3.1 mm thick provides excellent cutting edge geometry with low friction. The cutting edge is derived with a Full Flat Grind. The Spyder Edge serrated blade extends along the entire length of the blade for powerful cuts. The blade is made of well-sharpened 8Cr13MoV stainless steel (equivalent to Japanese AUS-8 steel). The enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) makes it easy to open the folder with cold or wet hands. Notched section of the back of the blade, the ramp (spine jimping) positions the thumb, gives solid support, makes it easier to operate the knife.
Spyder Edge - (Spyderco patent) serrated blade usually has a few millimeters of smooth blade on the tip side. The Spyder blade consists of alternating one large and two small teeth, the so-called two-step. This pattern increases the length of the cutting edge by up to 24% compared to a straight blade. Ideal for cutting, inflicting deep wounds, cutting through hard materials including bone.
Handle - profiled in black color. Bi-Directional Texturing non-slip facings strengthen the grip, even with wet hands. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. Metal hourglass clip with 4-way (up/down, right/left) 4-way clip positions. In the back of the handle lanyard hole, a hole for a cord.
