Externally, it resembles the previous generation, but it's the internal design that puts the new Scarab II in a class of its own. The revolutionary double blade unfolding mechanism not only provides smoother operation for easier opening, but the double spring design propels the blade forward with enough force to make the knife open even underwater. Precision engineered to the highest standards, the Scarab II guarantees unparalleled reliability and safe use.

M390MK - thanks to a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers, an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech was created. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.

DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) durability of the blade surface is enhanced with a matte black nanocomposite coating, which exhibits unique properties such as exceptional hardness and low friction, as well as excellent corrosion protection. It is one of the most resistant coatings to scratches and abrasion that are used in the industry, including the knife industry.

Blade - machine ground, type D/E (Double Edge) Dagger, sharpened on both sides with a line of grain grooves on both sides of the blade. The durability of the blade's surface has been increased with a non-reflective, matte DLC coating, which is characterized by exceptional hardness, low coefficient of friction and excellent corrosion resistance. The blade was derived with a high flat grind (Flat Grind), providing excellent cutting properties. As a result, while maintaining high strength, the knife has excellent piercing properties. The powerful mechanism of extending / retracting the blade with the help of the moletted Thumb Slide, a stepped slide under the thumb requires for safety the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. In this model, the moleting has been upgraded to a version with a distinctive “X” in the center. The way of opening provides seamless opening for both right and left-handed people.

Handle - made with excellent precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines, from anodized 6061-T6 aluminum . There are notches (jimping) on the back and bottom of the Handle for a more secure grip.

The slim profile and milled two-position (right/left) solid deep-carry clip allow the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket, in tip-down (blade tip down) position. The clip features the line's signature scarab pictogram. The Handle is finished with a glass breaker, a solid steel triangle into which a tungsten carbide ball has been pressed. It also features a hole for interweaving a decorative line.
